PREFACE

The South American jungle region of Amazon is home
to hundreds of human civilizations, all which have a
rich history and ancient wisdom. Living in harmony
with nature and their communities, many people have
maintained their customs and believes, while avoiding
                                    influences from the western lifestyle.

Many communities in the Amazon still survive on
primal skills, by hunting animals and farming cassava,
plantains, and other vegetables. Communities maintain
social hierarchies and each member has a role and
responsibilities to perform. This way of living has
allowed communities to live harmoniously as one with
                                    their environment.

The survival of indigenous communities have been
threatened by foreign presence for centuries. Illegal
deforestation, exploitation of natural resources, and
cultural indoctrination have forced many communities
to abandon their culture and their habitat.

By raising awareness of the environmental challenges
and social threats to their society, the hope is that the
rest of the world will come to value and respect these
                                    ancient indigenous communities.
