Shaman
The shaman is one of the most important figures in the
Kofán social organization. He is the elder authority,
knowledgeable about agriculture and responsible for
the physical and spiritual health of his community.
They are considered teachers and great sages, due
to their relationship with the universe and expert
handling of yagé (sacred plant) and tobacco. The
shaman has been known to look into the future and
see sprits when he uses yagé.
