Kayap ó Men
Men are great hunters and gatherers, they also weave baskets
and make spears, bows and arrows for hunting. One of their main
functions within the community is to teach boys their trades,
such as hunting and fishing.
Hunting days can last days or weeks, but if a celebration is going
to be organized, these expeditions can be more distant and can
last for months, since they must guarantee enough food for the
entire community.
The older people share with the young their ancestral knowledge
in the use of medicinal plants, songs, dances and rituals.
Some older men still decorate their lower lip with a mahogany
disc, which was previously used by all the men of the tribe.
